About This Game The year is 2051. Location: SATAZIUS, a long-abandoned planet.The cruiser Agano was on patrol when it was attacked and stricken by a confederacy of space pirates that had established a base on SATAZIUS. The pirates attacked the Agano intending to steal the assault ship ‘Trafalgar’ that was stowed aboard the Agano, but the Trafalgar made a successful emergency escape.The crew of the Trafalgar calculated the probability of successfully escaping the pirate overrun planet at 0.02%; the probability of charging into and successfully destroying the pirate base was 1%. Taking the higher probability escape plan, the crew of the Trafalgar turned their ship toward the pirate horde and began their charge into the heart of SATAZIUS.SATAZIUS is an awesome old school side-scrolling arcade shooter by accomplished indie developer ASTRO PORT (Gigantic Army, Armed Seven, Supercharged Robot Vulkaiser), featuring an arsenal of 13 types of upgradeable weapons, power-ups, obstacles and boss encounters that arcade veterans will enjoying getting to grips with. If you are looking to just suite up and shoot things, this game is not for you.. This game is really inspired by Thunder Force III, it seems.. A traditional shoot 'em up to the tune of Gradius. A good introduction to the genre for the curious, since it's nowhere near as sadistic as the "Bullet Hell" sub-genre.. If you are looking for a tribute to/substitute for legendary Gradius series, no need to look further for a while.... If powerup levels make you wish you had a Konami code and circular bullets give you nightmares about Moai heads, this is probably a good game for you.Also includes an "easy mode" if you want a chance at beating it someday.. Modern throwback to the early Gradius/Lifeforce shoot-'em-ups with a flexible array of weapon choices for a variety of playstyles. Starts with an Easy and Normal difficulty and features two unlockable difficulties if you're really good and can clear a difficulty on a single credit. Most of it's standard shoot-'em-up fare, not quite a bullet hell (at least on Easy and the first half of Normal), though there are some points in the game where it's some degree of trial-and-error nonsense that takes some memorization. The massive amount of popcorn enemies to blow up in each stage makes up for it, since explosions are fun. Great game for not very much money. Gamepad compatible. Only qualm is that hitting Escape while in-game exits out of the game entirely.. Its a real side scrolling classic arcade shooter! Not a stupid spastic puzzle rainbow fest like all the other games that come out! I was so thrilled at this fact! If you liked games like R-Type, Raiden, Gradius etc then you may find this game enjoyable! I did! I hope they make another!. It's alright. The level design is a little cumbersome and the ship is a little too big for the speed it moves at but overall it's ok if you're a fan of horizontal shmups. There's not that many in Steam and this is probably one of better ones.. Short game but awesome gameplay. I miss games like this. took me 2h to defeat all bosses on normal.
